About Space2Learn

Space2Learn is the joint idea and effort of two teachers who believe in global citizenship education. This blog is a collection of ideas, stories, concepts, and solutions about the features and design elements of learning spaces in schools and communities around the world.

The drive behind Space2Learn emerged from a discussion amongst teachers at the Qudwa 2017. Qudwa, held in the United Arab Emirates, was established by the Education Affairs Office within the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi as a Global Teachers’ Forum which aims to empower teachers to improve the future of education.

Key to the Qudwa discussion was challenging participants to avoid limiting the conversation to ‘classroom design’, considering that thousands of teachers are supporting students learning in non-classroom environments – community, outdoor, or unconventional spaces.

Space2Learn blog posts are written by educators seeking to share the stories of how they use their learning space in response to learning goals and challenges faced by both teacher and students.

The blog is edited and maintained by Sean Bellamy and Mark Reid, both of whom serve the teaching profession as Varkey Teacher Ambassadors and Qudwa Fellows.
